It happens around Lamar about this same time every year. Medium sized slate gray birds start falling out of the trees. These small raptors, called Mississippi Kites, are young birds that haven’t learned how to fly yet.

Colorado Division of Wildlife District Wildlife Manager Mike Swaro has been named a 2009 recipient of the Torch Award by the North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association (NAWEOA). Swaro was presented the award July 15 at the NAWEOA annual conference in New Brunswick, Canada.

DURANGO, Colo. — A special Internet course through which prospective hunters can obtain their Hunter Education Card is being offered by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Anyone can take the course, but participants are required to attend two-sessions in person in Durango.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.–The Colorado Division of Wildlife Women Afield program is sponsoring a “Cast & Blast” clinic for women on Saturday, August 1 in Steamboat Springs. Cast & Blast clinics are designed for women (12 and older) who want to learn to fly fish and to shoot a shotgun.
