Colorado Division of Wildlife, Bureau of Land Management White River Field Office and the White River National Forest Blanco Ranger District are ready to begin work on the Oak Ridge prescribed burn near Meeker. The cooperating agencies plan to burn 766 acres on the Oak Ridge project this week if weather conditions remain favorable.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife hunter outreach program will host an elk hunting seminar at the Denver Hunter Education Building from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, September 23, 2008.

A La Plata County resident has pleaded guilty to harassment of wildlife and has been ordered to pay about $1,000 in fines and court costs. The charge is related to an incident in September 2007 in which two bears were shot and killed north of Bayfield.
